The Castle: Casting Call – Session Notes – 23 May 2020

16 June, 2025 – Dubai, U.A.E. The battle continues. Seamus engages a small group of soldiers, Cole as a werewolf draws fire, and John suppresses snipers on the nearby rooftops. Jamie, Hugo, and Daphne pop back into the world of the living behind the police lines, and Daphne opens way out of the roadblock by hotwiring one of the patrol cars and crashing it into another under covering fire from Hugo. Mike uses his ability for suggestion to great effect, causing one enemy to fire on his compatriots and another to drive one of the APCs up to the door of the building. The party piles into the APC and races out of the neighborhood, pursued in the air and on the ground.

The Castle: Casting Call – Session Notes – 9 May 2020

16-17 June, 2025 – Dubai, U.A.E. The party discusses their plan for getting to the container ship. Emily finds several large fishing yachts available at a local tourist marina that seem like prime targets. John tells the party that no matter what happens, they can’t lead pursuers to the container ship itself, so they’ll need to make sure they can’t be traced to it by the time they intercept (otherwise they’d be “floating ducks” as Jamie puts it, out on the water for a month). Emily uses one of the phones and her senses to find the tracking devices just under the skin in everyone’s shoulders. Emma uses the mobile surgical kit to extract the tracking devices from everyone, discovering that John’s is...

Prelude: Mike

Prelude: Mike

Mike: Mary called you up to the front office.  The store had been closed for a few hours, she was probably just closing the books.  You park the pallet of Twinkies and Ho-Hos and take the long walk through the dimly-lit aisles with a growing sense of dread.  You hop up the narrow set of stairs behind the not-quite-Starbucks and duck into the small front-of-house manager’s office. Her panties hit you in the face a second before the rest of her does, pressing you against the wall and clawing at your clothes. Shit, not Mary.  Not another boss. She was pretty in a tired, grocery-store-manager sort of way, somewhere around middle age, and judging by her ring tearing into your right hip, married.  That was good.  The older ones know what...

The Castle: Casting Call – Session Notes – 25 April 2020

16 June, 2025 – Dubai, U.A.E. During the night, Mike and Hugo observe John – looking quite monstrous – slinking out of the apartment. He tells them that he’ll be back shortly. Early the next morning, EmilyBot reports in and states that it managed to remove the van from the Ministry of Transportation video feeds – however the van had been reported stolen, and the bot was unable to intercept it before it went out in a bulletin. Huge, Daphne, Seamus, Emma, and Mike head out into the neighborhood surrounding the apartment building and swap the van’s license plates with those from a car parked in a nearby garage. Meanwhile, Margaret and Jamie go to a local bodega and purchase enough food for the team for the day. By the time everyone arrives...

Prelude: Seamus

Prelude: Seamus

Seamus: It’s a night like any other, you suppose.  The late trucks pull up to the dock and you spend a few hours with a pallet jack unloading them and stowing them in the warehouse before the stockers come in and put the stuff out on the shelves.  Same shit every day.  But you like the night.  The frigid desert air mingling with the residual heat rising from the concrete, and you’re far enough away from the lights of the strip that you can see the stars sometimes. You’re leaning against the dock having a smoke when you notice a penny on the ground.  It’s a shiny, perfect penny.  This happens to you a lot.  You pick it up, just like all the others, and give it a glance.  The strike is perfect, the edges are so sharp they...

The Castle: Casting Call – Session Notes – 11 April 2020

Margaret and Mike don’t find a solution at the convenience store they can afford with the few dirhams they have left, and eventually head back for the motel. Meanwhile, as the party generally relaxes and discusses their next move, Emily blurts out that someone had come into her mind while she was dozing, offered her a job, and told her she had thirty minutes to call a phone number. This kicks the party into gear, with everyone rapidly packing up. Daphne and Seamus find a cargo van a short way down the road with the keys in it, and bring it to the motel room. Meanwhile, Margaret and Mike grab Emily and head back to the convenience store to see if the ATM outside can be hacked. The party piles into the van while Emily extracts several hundred dirhams from the ATM...

Interlude: Emily’s Offer

Interlude: Emily’s Offer

Emily- You’re so damned tired.  And hungry. But mostly tired.  Seamus turns on the TV, because of course he did, but it’s something in Arabic, and you close your eyes for just a second… …and you’re somewhere else.  Some epic cavern like the inside of the Death Star or something.  It’s dead silent, and after looking around you realize you’re disembodied, literally just a point-of-view that can rotate in place.   And there’s a guy here.  Eastern European, clean-shaven, dressed in a black suit and white shirt, unbuttoned at the neck.  There’s a strange tic to him, like he’s just a tiny bit Max Headroom. It really cranks up the uncanny valley factor.  You can’t really move, and can’t speak as far as you can...
